All the life-like scale detail and selections from the incredible patterns of the original X-Rap. The massive diving-lip takes the X-Rap Magnum deep...unassisted. Nothing to hinder the action. These run perfect right out of the box, no wasted time tuning. They can be run up to 13 knots for big game fish worldwide.

The Rapala X-Rap red head 20 is mine go to lure for Spanish Mackerel, or
what I think you may call the King Mackerel? I fine it works better then the
30 and at a better price too.
I live in the Torres Straits far north Queensland and it's home to some very
big fish around 40KG I have seen a monster of a fish taken of Friday Island
that was 52KG to big to eat,
but good fun on the end of a rod.....my PB is 36KG also getting a little to
big to eat, the norm is around the 12/18KG and there like fleas on a dog up
this way.
So to why, and how I use the X-Rap 20 over any other lure, simple!!! it
catchers more fish then any other lure I've used, and trust me I've been at
it for some time now, it's the same size as the bait fish, can be cleaned up
with some wet and dry sand paper when it starts looking old, tough little
buggers they are.
Trolling at a speed of 6kts, I have 1 out at 30 feet number 2 at 45 feet and
the 3rd at 60 feet, three out only when I have help, mainly only the two by
myself. this gives them a different death, as you would know, one thing I
should tell you, get rid of the treble hooks and replace them with a good
single hook, this way if any sailfish turn up you have a higher % of landing
them, F.Y.I I have landed 7 over the past 4 year using these little
beauty's, Yes I love them!!! and I don’t use anything eels.
My gear, Shimano TLD 20 2speed packed with 50lbs braid and 30 feet of
80lbs tough line leader snapswivel and 105lb wire trace to the lure. works
for me....

I usually troll this lure at approx 4 to 5 miles an hour and have had
success with catching queen fish and tuna.

I fish for pelagics off the North West coast of Western Australia, predominantly for
the 20-40 kilo narrow barred Spanish Mackerel - fishing out side the reef lines in
10 - 50 metres of water of approx 24-27 degree celsius. Pelagics don't seem to mind
tides so much but appear more prolific on a rising to full moon. That's been my
experience anyway.
I troll at 5 - 7 knots using mostly 20 and 30 foot Rapala XRMAG's and find the
Redheads the best but other Raps like the S, SBs also work well.
These are mixed up and trolled between the 3rd, 5th and further stern wave -
sometimes with teasers, sometimes without
The Rapala is the very best but like all fishing in this day and age, gone are the
days when you could tap the side of the boat and the fish would leap aboard! We must
work at it and be very flexible - what succeeds one day doesn't work the next!

Here on the rugged coast of Western Australia, we are blessed with some fantastic
land based fishing. Ever heard of Steep Point or more to the point Dirk Hartog
Island .. These lures will make a good option for surface feeding Mackerel averaging
about 15-20kg and Tuna upto about 15kg. Other species include Cobia, Trevally and
possibly some demersal species like snapper. A quick google search on these places
will tell ya what I'm on about.
