Currently, in Southern California, there has been a very good tuna bite. The tuna have very sharp teeth and a standard J style hook has a higher chance of being swallowed and hooked deep. This puts the leader at risk of being "chewed off." Circle hooks have a much higher probability of lodging in the jaw joint. The shank length and hook angle are always issues with circle hooks. I have used Owner, Gamakatsu, and Mustad circle hooks. Depending on the bait size, I try to use the best hooks for the situation. The Mustad 39942 is an excellent hook for small bait/light line applications. I really like having the Mustad 39942 as part of my options, hence the large order. Hope this helps.
