the various types of lures are controlled differently.
The ones you see with the big plastic (usually clear) lip on the front are made to
sink to certain depths when reeled in. The size of the lip combined with how fast
you reel in dictates the depth the lure will go. Others are weighted so they
"wiggle" in the water making them look like a real fish and others, such as jig
heads are either used to mock fish eggs or if you add a worm, they can be lightly
tipped up and down to entice the fish. Spoons rotate in the water when they're
reeled in, usually the shiny side of the spoon will reflect or "flash" from the sun
and stand out in the water.
