The main reason I use them are is when I normally fish for stripers (rockfish) I use
a j hook which hooks up sometimes down in there mouth and the mono leader then gets
frayed from there rough mouths and sometimes they will break off,
I just got back from TN and they have alot of nice fish in there rivers (TVA) well I
had 3 to 4 that just broke off and if I had circle hooks on my chance of that
happening would of been 90% or better they would of been hooked in the corner of the
mouth leaving the leader line untouched
